Buford

Near the end of the 1800s and on into the early 20th century, Buford was known as " The Leather City," renowned for its bridles, horse collars, saddles and shoes. It was founded in 1892 as a railroad town and named for Algernon Sydney Buford, president of the Atlanta and Richmond Air-Line Railway. The railroad went broke in 1874, but was reorganized, eventually becoming part of the Southern Railroad. Both the new railroad and the town thrived. Most of Buford is situated in Gwinnett County. A small portion of its land area lies in Hall County. As a desirable "outside the perimeter" community, Buford lies 25 miles north of Atlanta, with its northern boundary along the shore of Lake Lanier.

Duluth

Duluth describes itself as a vibrant community where something is always happening. Situated in Gwinnett County on the northeastern fringes of the Atlanta metropolitan area, Duluth has a population of over 29,000. In the last century, when Duluth was more rural in character, it was one of only a few small towns with its own hospital. Today, the Gwinnett Medical Center, opened in 2006, boasts a modern hospital, with a medical campus that includes a rehabilitation facility, a diabetes and nutrition education center and a sleep disorder center.

Lawrenceville

The year 2021 marks Lawrenceville's bicentennial, and all indications are that the community will enjoy a future just as interesting as its past. Founded in 1821 soon after Gwinnett County was formed, the first major building to be laid out in the village was the county courthouse. Lawrenceville is the county seat and is the second oldest city in the Greater Atlanta area, situated about 30 miles northeast. Today its population is estimated at about 30,000.

North Gwinnett & South Forsyth

South Forsyth may be more of a state of mind than a real place on the map, but it's real in the hearts and minds of its residents. Much of the physical attraction of South Forsyth can be attributed to the presence of Lake Lanier on its northern boundary, but part of the appeal of this area is the city of Buford, home to the Mall of Georgia, and the nearby communities of Alpharetta, Milton, Johns Creek and Suwanee. South Forsyth embodies all that is good about life lived near metropolitan Atlanta. It's also close enough to the country to have the Chattahoochie National Recreation Center at your back door.
Visit

Suwanee

Suwanee is a city of over 20,000 people located northeast of Atlanta. Even though, depending on whether you drive on the Interstate or take the backroads, it's only between 35 and 45 minutes away, residents here think that the local vibe is totally different from the big city. Among its accolades, it counts being called one of the country's "best places for families" and for raising children by Family Circle and Kiplinger Magazine and as one of the Top Ten Best Places to Live by Money Magazine.
